Ternion Alternatives (“Ternion”) was founded in 2020 to provide private markets emerging managers (<$1.5B AUM) in EMEA and North America with the capital and support they need to succeed and scale.

Our firm invests in and advises founders and senior leaders as they invest on a direct basis, from established balance sheets, or as fund investors. Ternion believes that its investment focus is differentiated through a focus on emerging managers, informed by significant, dedicated experience of directly building such firms successfully in the past.

What We Do


Ternion Strategic Capital (“TSC”)

Ternion Strategic Capital seeks to make common and preferred equity investments of $5-75 million into the management companies of alternative asset managers with assets under management of $1.5 billion or less, located in Europe, the Middle East and North America.

TSC invests in emerging and mid-market managers primarily with buyout, growth, credit and infrastructure strategies, led by principled and successful founders with active investment pipelines.


Ternion Advisory Services (“TAS”)

Ternion Advisory Services comprises both the operational value-added services in support of partner managers of TSC, and also a suite of services for other asset managers, including:

  • New investment platform ideation and formation

    1. Firm formation for founders using proprietary 192-step operational accelerator

    2. Design and launch of asset management capabilities for corporates, family offices and strategic investors

    3. Joint venture / corporate investment platform creation

  • Investor relations and capital raise management

  • Inflection point advisory: founder advice and stakeholder management during complex moments in client firms’ evolution

  • Brand and marketing development

  • Private capital markets advisory: GP staking and NAV lending solutions


Capital Raising Services (“CRS”)

Select direct deal, co-investment, anchor and fund capital raising services for emerging managers.


Global Emerging Manager Institute

Content. Community. Capital.

Ternion has created and manages the Global Emerging Manager Institute (the “Institute”), comprising the British Emerging Manager Institute, US Emerging Manager Institute, and forthcoming Gulf Emerging Manager Institute.

The Institute has three objectives:

  1. Provide a free and growing library of content for emerging managers to support their firm development

  2. Build a supportive and collaborative community of GPs, LPs and service providers sharing advice, deal flow and offering services to support the ecosystem

  3. Improve the availability of deal and fund capital for emerging managers to improve the funding options for global early-stage to mid-market businesses
